There are outstanding opportunities for research leading to the degree of PhD, either on a full-time or part-rime basis. General information can be found here
The content of the PhD research at the National Facility can range from theoretical through computational to experimental (or, of course, a mixture), according to the interests and capabilities of the student, the R&D projects that are active at the time, or the preferences of a student sponsor. If desirable, bespoke “stand alone” projects can be arranged.
PhD training is usually “application-driven” at some level, meaning that the research is closely related to real-world problems. This in turn equips the successfully completing PhD scientist for the wider employment opportunities in academia, scientific institutions and industry.
